Introducing the new mobile app,”Eatby App”
A new money-saving app launches soon: The EatBy App has been created and developed by husband and wife team, Steffan and Barbara Lewis, after a number of incidents when they threw food out because it had passed its Use By date.
“Steffan, mourning his discarded egg custard tart, answered with that modern cliché, ‘I bet there’s an app for that.’ ”
When they learned how much food is unnecessarily wasted worldwide every year they became passionate about the global issue and made it their mission to change the way they shop for food and manage their kitchen.
And so the idea was born. After scouring the available apps Steffan and Barbara decided that there wasn’t a brilliant solution to the problem of forgetting food in the fridge. So they went about developing their own app.
Never having developed an app before, they embarked on their ambitious project. After a year of research, learning, hard work developing and testing, the EatBy App has finally become a reality.
Used daily, the app will certainly help reduce wasted food and money. Steffan and Barbara designed the app insisting that “it had to be simple and quick to use with as little effort as possible – even fun.”
They developed the app for their own use with the idea that other people could benefit from it too. Determined the app should function properly without having to pay for it, the result is an essentially free app with an in-app purchase that adds a shopping list function.
The app will launch on the App Store and Google Play in April 2015. The app’s promotional material emphasises the benefits of the Eatby App to the user (saving $1,000 per year) and to the environment with the tagline: Eat Fresh, Waste less, Save money, EatBy app.
