1 hour before you start (or in the morning) crush a clove of garlic and pop it into a glass with the 50ml of Kirsch and leave it to infuse.
When ready to prepare the fondue remove the garlic from the Kirsch and mix the cornstarch into it. Put this aside.
Put the fondue pot on medium heat and pour the wine in and add the cheese into it. Stir continuously until the cheese is melted.
Mix the Kirsch and cornstarch mixture into the fondue .
Transfer the fondue bowl to the table burner and enjoy!
A cheese fondue is about the most fun you can have with food. Use crusty bread to dip and you can add a selection of fresh raw vegetables such as carrot batons, celery or broccoli. When dipping bread into the bowl be sure to scrape the bottom of the pot with it frequently to prevent the cheese burning.
